Individual Voluntary Arrangements

If you have debts of more than £6,000 and can afford to contribute at least £100 a month towards all of your debts combined over a fixed period of time, typically 5 years, an IVA could be a solution to consider.

How an IVA works

One payment based on what you can afford.

In an IVA, eligible monthly debt obligations are combined into a single monthly repayment based on how much you can afford to pay each month, rather than simply the amount that you owe.

You do not need to split the payment and pay all participating creditors separately; this is dealt with as part of the arrangement.

Monthly repayments typically continue for a fixed period, commonly five years. Subject to the terms of the arrangement and successful completion, eligible remaining debts included in the IVA are written off.

As with any debt solution, it is important to seek professional advice before committing.
